I am very happy for the team and for the fans.
My beef is only with the local public officials who squandered public assets. I will attend games and support my home town. I will also work to have the people involved in the massive squandering of taxpayer assets held personally responsible, including those who profiteered from the abuse of taxpayer assets.
Play Ball!

Good for you! Each person must react in his own fashion to this situation.
I have personally supported 2 local professional basketball teams, 2 professional hockey teams, and 1 professional arena football team. If the conditions had been different, I would no doubt be supporting Studer’s baseball team. But the situation IS different, and I will NEVER support anything that has Studer’s name attached to it. Nor will I ever support the city officials, local newspaper, and individuals who executed this fraud upon the citizens of Pensacola.
I salute your determination to hold accountable those responsible for the fraud, and will join you in your efforts. The local public officials, in particular, are accustomed to getting a free pass for whatever transgressions they commit. They do not fear the voting public, but they DO fear the Fat Cats who pull their strings. Let’s put a stop to it!
What the baseball fans don’t realize is that Bad Government is bad for everyone. What the News Journal does not realize, is that a lack of journalistic ethics is NEVER acceptable. Too many people accepted the shenanigans because they were willing to accept that “the end justifies the means”. They wanted to watch baseball games and they didn’t care what lies were told as long as they got their baseball stadium. The next time this happens (and there will be a next time), the end result may not be something that is so pleasing to them.
