It was Occupy Pensacola’s idea to do volunteer work for the city; not His. 12-15 Occupiers (mostly ‘homeless’ guys) were hanging Christmas decorations Thursday nov. 17, for the DIB when they received their illegal eviction notice, and a month long harrasment began and continues. It was MY idea presented to David Flareghty (sp) in the lobby of city hall to put a parks cleanup team for Occupy together. I am no longer involved with Occupy Pensacola, but what are you gonna do, Ashton, When and put together a team to do sanitation work around the city? On AM 1620 in an interview he acted like they were his suggestions as to how we should act. Come to city counsel meetings so the people can counsel you on how to act in our best interest. Quit playin’ games; you’ll lose. You ain’t a true p’cola playa’ like me.

Isn’t it clear that this mayor cares more about appearance and less about substance? He has bought off the media — the PNJ via Levin who threatened to pull his advertising from the newspaper — Progressive Pensacola, by hiring Derek Cosson at a very inflated salary given Cosson’s education & experience — Rick Outzen who uses John Asmar, the mayor’s chief of staff, as his attorney, etc., etc.
Take a look at the people the mayor has fired. As the mayor, it’s Hayward’s right to fire any of his direct reports without cause. However, if he were a professional manager, he would have talked to these employees to let them know that they weren’t performing as he expected and would have given them an opportunity to improve. While I think that’s what he should have done, it was in is power to fire these employees just because he didn’t like the way they looked. However, given that these employees were fired without cause, the mayor treated most of them in a very disrespectful, unprofessional & hurtful manner. The one exception is Rusty Wells (is it a surprise that he’s the only white male who was fired?!) who was immediately hired back to work for the city as a contract employee. What about Thaddeus Cohen, Becky Bray, Mary Stalcup, etc? They were all blind sided & in some cases were told they couldn’t come back into the building, speak to their staffs assist in the transition, etc.
I’m ashamed that this man represents the city of Pensacola.

The article says that Hayward’s vacation was paid for by Alitalia, an Italian airline. Does any one else find it troublesome that the mayor is getting a luxury vacation paid for by an international corporation?

Hope he wasnt paid for the trip!!

Lends credence to my view that Pensacola is run by Mayor Asmar and his deputy fashion model….
